The School of Communication & Creative Industries is inviting applications for a faculty position at the Assistant/Associate level. We are looking for exceptional candidates who are passionate about teaching and research in the evolving fields of Media, Communication, and Digital Culture.

Job Role

Faculty members are expected to serve as subject matter experts for the program and assist the Chair/Coordinator with the ongoing operation of the academic program. They will ensure that the accredited curriculum is implemented in alignment with the university's academic standards and the requirements of the Ministry of Education Higher Education Affairs. Faculty will report directly to the Dean of the School and collaborate with the Chair/Coordinator and any relevant administrative staff within the department.

The faculty is required to teach a full course load and maintain office hours as needed. Any adjustments to the course load for research or community outreach will be made in consultation with the Chair/Coordinator, Dean, and Provost.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty members, in consultation with the Dean, should engage in non-instructional activities such as research, development, creative work, and administrative duties. These activities contribute to the advancement of the university and the broader community.

Qualifications & Requirements

PhD in Journalism, Digital Media, Communication, or a related field from top 500 QS ranked universities, preferably western accredited universities.
A strong research profile with publications in reputable journals.
Minimum five years of teaching experience at the university level.
Professional experience in journalism, digital media, or a related field is an advantage.
Experience in multimedia content creation, data journalism, podcasting, or AI-driven journalism.
Familiarity with Canadian and international media landscapes is preferred.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a diverse academic environment.

Candidates must have a demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness and research publications in highly ranked Scopus journals.

Job Purpose
First-of-its-kind training facility in Dubai, the Emirates Flight Training Academy (EFTA) is located in Dubai South, Dubai World Central (DWC). With its unique facilities and resources, Emirates Flight Training Academy offers the opportunity to learn to fly in the most advanced flight training academy in the world.


Our fully-operational flight operations centre is dedicated to Emirates Flight Training Academy cadets only, making flight training part of everyday life at the Academy. This means you will have the opportunity to gain a complete operational experience in one holistic environment.



As a Flying Instructor in EFTA, you are responsible for delivering high quality flying training instruction, initially on SR-22 single engine aircraft, to ab-initio pilot cadets, at the Emirates Flight Training Academy. Instructional duties include on-aircraft, in-simulator and on-ground instruction, preparation of lessons, pre-and post-flight briefings, accurate report writing and assessment. Having demonstrated proficiency in the single engine instructional role, there is the potential to move onto the DA42 twin engine fleet. Irrespective of fleet, having successfully completed 5-years in the instructional role at EFTA, instructors will have the opportunity to apply to join Emirates Airline, an opportunity no other FTO can offer.



In this role:

You will provide training and flying instruction to ab-initio cadets.
Conduct pre and post flight training briefings to ensure cadets have the requisite knowledge and understand the process and procedure fully.
Conduct and deliver flying skills training in aircraft, simulator, and ground instruction to ensure the cadets meet the prescribed standards of flying.
Conduct regular checks for cadets to ensure they meet the course standards.
Ensure the safety of the cadets is paramount and report incidents to the concerned personnel for any violations and situations that may affect the safety of the operation.
Monitor cadet s proficiency and progress on regular basis and generate accurate reports of their performance.
Research, develop, and recommend new training methods to further improve the standard of learning and performance; and,
Deliver other flying-related training initiatives as directed by the CFI.
Qualification
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:

You must have experience as an Ab-initio flying instructional experience in a large ATO.
Minimum 700hrs Total Time, 500hrs Instructional time, 200hrs IFR time.
Minimum GCAA or any ICAO Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) with a Single Engine Class Rating.
Minimum Flight Instructor Rating with Night and Instrument privileges.
Class 1 Medical Certificate without restrictions.
ICAO English Language Proficiency level 5 or greater.
Exceptional instructional technique with an understanding of a broad range of teaching methodologies.
Computer literate.

Has to maintain a professional image with both internal and external clients.

Deals with different internal clients from different levels and departments.

Communicates with the University Finance & Purchasing departments and with vendors.

Communicates with other departments for their IT requirements.

Interacts with staff, faculty and students on regular basis.

Occasional contact with Deans, Directors, and Supervisors.


The Requirements
Must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 2 years’ experience working in an administrative role, preferably with senior management or in an IT department. Experience with Personnel record keeping and/or inventory management is a must.

Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, databases and researching through the Internet is essential.

The incumbent must be Bilingual (English/Arabic).
