    AOA is a joint venture between Algerian State owned Oil and Gas Company Sonatrach and Sohail Bhawan Group (Holding) LLC Oman. AOA complex construction contract was awarded to Japan Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) in partnership with Korea Daewoo Engineering &Construction Company in 2008. The process technology for ammonia production plants is Haldor Topsoe, Denmark and its urea process technology is Italy's Snamprogetti and while Germany' Uhde Fertilizer Technology has supplied its urea granulation process technology.
    The complex is producing 4000 MTPD of ammonia, almost all of which is being converted urea using two plants producing 3500 MTPD each of urea.
    Electricity generation capacity of the plant is 93 MW by four Gas turbines having each of 23.28 MW and steam generation capacity of three HRSG connected to Gas turbines with supplementary gas firing is 225 ton/hr.
