Job Seeker Tips

Study the job description and any available information you have on the position. Are you mirroring the words and phrases in the job description? Are you showcasing your strengths in the areas that seem to be of paramount importance to this role?

Consider crafting, original, genuine thank you notes (one for each interviewer) the moment you get back to a computer, following the interview. The speed with which you send the notes, and the quality, will make an impact.

  • Write a clear subject line (e.g. Application for Senior Designer).
  • Don't send an email without a subject line.
  • Don't send an email with a poorly formatted or vague subject line (e.g. Job application, my CV, job4me, whassup dude?, etc).
  • Make sure your email has a clear subject line.
  • Write 1-2 short paragraphs as the body of the email as a short version of your application letter.
  • Think about what the recipient is likely to prefer, not what you prefer.
  • Finish your email with your full name, and telephone number.
  • Don't forget to attach your CV and application letter.

Be cognizant of the fact that many, if not most, job openings aren't advertised. Tell everyone you know that you are looking for work. Ask if they can help. Make an organized list of your network and add 15 contacts daily in that list.

See the market demand. Companies are looking for which type of Job Descriptions and adjust your CV and skills accordingly.

And Learn whatever is missing from your capabilities.

While using Google for job search. Learn to use advanced tools and filters.

Apply country and time filters to narrow down your to latest jobs in your area.

And don’t rely only on Google. Use more than one search engine.

Each search engine has different criteria of search and could provide you different results.

Such as Yahoo, MSN, Bingo, etc.

It’s about finding where you can contribute and benefit other people.

Think about how, what you do will help your manager, the company, or your customer to succeed.

When you provide value to others, you open up opportunities.

Think of a potential employer as a potential client.

Make lists of your strengths, experience, and skills and imagine using them in your new job.

Use the right Font

Do not use too big or too small font sizes.

Also do not use more than one Font type.

Times New Roman is ok but very old fashioned style, try to avoid it.

Do not use Fancy types of fonts.

Calibri is considered to be a reasonable type of font.

You may use Calibri 12 for Normal Text and Calibri 12 Bold for headings.

The other font choices can be SansSerif

If you are sending emails to a Big List. Your Email will most possibly land in the Junk or Spam folder of the recruiters.

If you send your large list in smaller segments, the email provider (Hotmail, Gmail, etc.) will see less spam complaints bundled together at one time.

Do a Test to know that all of your emails are going properly in the inbox and not marked as Spam.

Don’t call the employer over and over without leaving a message.

Sound professional at all times.

Don’t jump to conclusions too quickly.

Understand the role and limits of Navafiz.

Always say “Please” and “Thank you.”

When you apply for a job and there is no response or its rejected.

It’s not you who is being rejected, it’s your CV which is rejected.

It’s just because you are not able to explain your skills and value.

Increase your skills & Value and explain it in short & sweet way.

Many people find jobs from people they know rather than traditional means such as job adverts.
Talk to family, friends and other people you know to find out where work might be on offer.

By lining up with people on the inside of the companies at which you want to work, you will instantly set yourself apart.Decision makers interview people who come recommended or by way of a personal referral before they start sorting through the blob of resumes that arrives by way of the ATS.

Consider crafting, original, genuine thank you notes (one for each interviewer) the moment you get back to a computer, following the interview. The speed with which you send the notes, and the quality, will make an impact.

The best way is to study the company and get the idea of their salary package ranges, Before interview.

Otherwise you can set your own range, keeping your last salary and current market conditions in mind.

While specifying range... keep margins of around 20% on high & low side.

You can always ask from interviewer about allocated budget.
